In the Old Testament, King David arose a great man, a man after God’s own heart. His driving passion was to PRAISEGOD. He praised God when he was in trouble, when he was safe, whether he was sad or happy, when he saw God working, even when He had no idea what God was up to - He offered up praise. He points us to the true object of his worship – “You, Lord are most high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.” (Psa 97:9)
Many of the Psalms describe worship in the congregation of the saints, there’s singing, dancing, shouting, drums, horns, cymbals and harps. (Psa 150, 108, 57, etc.) Perhaps the most powerful Psalms show David’s praise to God in a very personal way. “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His Word), In God I have put my trust...”(Psa 56:3,4)
No matter what the setting, whether David was in his room alone or dancing for all he was worth in front of the whole city, it was all done for an AUDIENCE OF ONE.
